Mike Hanson - Condensed C.V.

OVERVIEW

Previous to my degree, I worked with Liverpool based companies, Rage Software and Denton Design in QA and as a junior artist. Since graduation, the main focus of my work has been in production and post production for film and promotional material, 2D background art and character animation, and 3D modelling, texturing and animation using a wide selection of packages (mainly, 3D Studio Max and Maya). Most recently, I have concentrated my work on high quality 2D graphics for high spec windows mobile, Palm and IPhone devices. I also have experience in writing and recording music using everything from midi, for mobile phone computer games, to pro-tools and Cubase for live music. During my degree, I took part in TV studio sessions and wrote and directed a number of short films, incorporating digitally rendered special effects and large visual events on a small budget. I also attended as a delegate on the Television and Young People (TVYP) course at the Edinburgh festival.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Jun 2006 – Present
Astraware - The Handmark Games Studio, Newcastle Under Lyme.
Games Artist, Senior Artist.

At Astraware, I began by porting PopCap and Sandlot titles for mobile. I moved into the design and graphics for the critically acclaimed Astraware Solitaire which led to my role as lead on a number of Astraware products including Casino, Boardgames, and the Bubble Babble series. My disciplined aproach to the workload saw me promoted to Senior Artist. The post requires that I apply my skills in time management and pride in quality to the company's art department.

Mar 2003 – Sept 2005
Rusty Nutz Studios/Bizarre Creations, Liverpool.
Games Artist, Video Editor.

I started my work at Rusty Nutz developing a number of mobile phone games. I coded working demos of the games using Director and produced the artwork. Later I worked on a 3D project for next-gen consoles & produced promotional material for the project using Premier. I was then outsourced to Bizarre Creations to work on their recently released PGR3 for Xbox 360, using in-house tools for Maya.

Dec 2001 – Dec 2002
Virtucraft Studios Ltd, Bolton.
Junior Artist.

I designed and produced hundreds of backgrounds to specific style requirements of the licence and within console restrictions. I designed and animated smooth but economical 2D sprites (punch, walk, kick, jump, react animations, etc), again, to licence requirements. I also produced a vast number of 3D background models and textures using 3DSMax and Maya.

1994-96
Rage Software/Denton Design, Liverpool.
Junior Artist/QA.

I undertook background construction using in house software. I produced 2D art, using Deluxe Paint, for in game pick-ups, and additional graphics and performed simultaneous testing for a number of games. I also produced 2D artwork for in game extras and took up the tasks of concise organisation of bug records and liaison with development teams.
